Lauren Lovette

New York City Ballet
Groove With Me's Artistic Chair

Lauren Lovette—principal dancer at New York City Ballet, choreographer, and Harlem resident—has been involved with Groove With Me since February 2018.  She was named Artistic Chair of the Board of Groove With Me in December 2018.  Her commitment to GWM has included mentoring students, teaching class, and bringing students to see NYCB perform; she also, as a national ambassador of the athletic brand Puma, brought them on as a sponsor of the organization.  In September 2018, in honor of the “life-changing” scholarships she herself was given that gave her the opportunity to study dance, and her time mentoring the next generation of dancers, GWM renamed its scholarship fund in her name.  The Lovette Scholarship Fund helps address gaps in funding when GWM students earn places in pre-professional dance training but not the financial aid to fully cover their program and all its attendant costs.
