It’s hard to imagine anyone referring to 2020 as anything other than…a struggle. It’s a year that forced us to wrestle with uncertainty, loss and anxiety, as a pandemic raged worldwide, upending our jobs, our health—even our sense of self. But amid all of the awful, there were bright, glimmering, restore-your-faith-in-humanity moments. Here are the things, big and small, that brought us joy over the past year.
Our festivals may be virtual, but the fun is real! Tune-in Sunday, December 27 at 11 AM for the next Virtual Family Festival presented by Bowers at Home!
Live stream of Festival begins at 11 AM on Facebook!
This festival will feature the beautiful Mexican traditions of Las Posadas, a re-enactment of Mary and Joseph seeking refuge for the birth of the Baby Jesus, among other celebrations.
Are you looking for help for the Christmas holiday? If you live in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan or Statin Island, you may qualify for help from a Christmas assistance program like Toys for Tots, Catholic Charities New York and more. The Holiday season is such a special time to spend with family and friends. Yet, many poor people can’t experience the joys of Christmas, because they literally have nothing.

Time to chill out! Snow is beautiful, it’s unique, and it's fun to build with- but what else can we learn about this weird substance? Get ready to plow through a lesson all about snow from ice-age creatures to the physics behind skiing down mountain slopes! Then we will take things outdoors for a winter nature walk and an animal track matching activity (so be sure to dress warmly!) Lastly, we will conclude by making a truly unique snowflake that you can enjoy all year long! How COOL is that?! All materials included. Participants are required to wear masks throughout the program. Limited to 10 participants.
Saturday, December 19th 10:30-11:45 am
$20.00 per Participant
Program fees are non-refundable. No refunds or credits will be given for any missed programs. If APEC is notified within one week that the registrant cannot attend or if APEC cancels the program, a registration credit the amount of the class will be applied to you account to be used for future APEC program registration.
