Parent Observation & Participation Week (POP) is a new initiative at Groove With Me. Groove With Me's girls invited the adults in their lives to attend dance classes with them.

This August, 180 Groovy Grown-Ups participated in classes!  Moms, Dads, Aunts, Cousins, Grandmas, Grandpas, and other Guardians sweated it out in Bollywood, Hip Hop, Creative Movement, Modern and Jazz.

It seems we've discovered a new way to build self-confidence!

Spring Into Summer Performance 2011

Every June Groove With Me ends the year with a show in which all 250 dancers participate. This year the Spring Into Summer Recital was at The Choir Academy of Harlem! Groove With Me friends and families overflowed from the auditorium. Everyone was so proud of our girls!

If you would like to donate to Groove With Me so that our girls are able to dance at The World Famous Apollo Theater next June, please contact Abby. The Apollo Theater has over 1500 seats, enabling our participants to invite their whole family, friends, and other loved ones to see them dance. Now that's a confidence-builder!

Groove With Me's Young Professionals Committee held a Friend-Raiser on Thursday, February 17th in the Madison Green residential building in the heart of the Flatiron district. The cocktail party, the second event held by the Young Professional Committee was geared toward up-and-coming like-minded young professionals and featured a performance by Groove With Me dancers, a long list of raffle prizes as well as cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and sweets donated generously by Stoli, Hoboken Catering and Bon Temps Cake Shoppe.

This December, 280 Groovy Grown-Ups participated in classes!  Moms, Dads, Aunts, Cousins, Grandmas, Grandpas, and other Guardians sweated it out in African Dance, Hip Hop, and Jazz. Girls positioned their fathers' feet correctly in Ballet.  One teacher wrote of her experience, "Girls really liked teaching their parents steps and giving them corrections, which showed off what they knew."

This summer Groove With Me enrolled 95 girls ages 4-18 in the Summer Grooves program. Girls took classes in Ballet, Nia Fit, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Creative Movement and Choreography and performed what they learned at Central Park's Harlem Meer.

Tap & Tapas Benefit 2010

On April 19, 2010 an all-star team of NYC's top chefs cooked up a delightful feast! Alain Allegretti (Allegretti), Tom Colicchio (Colicchio & Sons), Scott Conant (Scarpetta), Harold Dieterle (Perilla), Claudia Fleming (The North Fork Table & Inn), Amanda Freitag (The Harrison), Elizabeth Karmel (Hill Country), Michael Laiskonis (Le Bernardin), Bill McDaniel (The Red Cat), George Mendes (Aldea), Michael White (Alto), and Damon Wise (Colicchio & Sons) made everyone's mouth water!

This summer Groove With Me enrolled 75 girls ages 4-18 in the Summer Grooves program. Girls took classes in Ballet, Nia Fit, Creative Movement, Funk, Hip Hop, and Afro-Caribbean and performed what they learned at Central Park's Harlem Meer.

Every June Groove With Me ends the school year with a show in which all 200 dancers participate. This year the Spring Into Summer Performance was on June 7th at East Harlem's Public School 96.

On December 15, 2007 Groove With Me had 175 girls perform at the 6th Annual Winter Spectacular. The show was held at East Harlem's Public School 96 and was free for community members and their guests. Groove With Me girls loved showing off their new moves!

On December 17th more than 180 Groove With Me girls performed at this 4th Annual Event. The show was held at East Harlem's Public School 96 and was free for community members and their guests. This years show was hosted by comedian Donnell Rawlings!
